Pasikudah Beach

Pasikudah Beach | Sri Lanka | NexRoaming

Pasikudah Beach, or Pasikudah Bay, is a 2-kilometre stretch of golden sand and clear water. This horseshoe-shaped bay with shallow waters is perfect for swimming with warm water and visibility, especially between May and September. This is when the bay is at its finest with cloudless skies, warm ocean waters and excellent visibility.

Here’s the thing — Pasikudah isn’t just about lounging by the water. In addition to swimming in the bay, you can also indulge in a variety of watersports such as water skiing and kayaking. You can even snorkel or dive to discover the vibrant wildlife and shipwrecks underwater. So, whether you are after relaxation or adventure, Pasikudah has it all.

Arugam Bay Beach

Arugam Bay | Sri Lanka | NexRoaming

Arugam Bay Beach, with its world-class waves and breaks, is a favourite destination for surfers of all levels. Located just a short 2 minute walk from town, Arugam Bay comes alive with surfers, competitions and a buzzing nightlife. One of the best things about Arugam Bay Beach is that it’s perfect for both beginners and pro surfers. Whether you are riding your first wave or perfecting your skills, the waves are here for you.

Even if surfing is not your thing, you’ll still find so many things to do and enjoy. The warm tropical waters are ideal for swimming, and after a dip you can relax and watch the local fishermen at work. Then, you can enjoy the laid-back vibes at one of the many cosy cafes and beach clubs lining the coast.

Other Beaches in The East Coast

Kalkudah Beach

Just a few kilometres away from Pasikudah Bay is Kalkudah Beach — a quieter and secluded alternative with soft sands and clear waters. While it’s not the best spot for swimming or other activities, you can always take a leisurely stroll along the beach, dip your toes in the shallow waters or bask under the warmth of the tropical sun.

Unlike Pasikudah, with its many resorts, Kalkudah has just a few resorts dotting its shores, adding to its low-key vibe. Further adding to its rustic appeal is the journey to the beach through sandy paths that wind through local villages and coconut plantations, giving visitors a glimpse of authentic Sri Lankan village life.

Kallady Beach

Located about 40 minutes away from Pasikudah, Kallady Beach is the perfect spot for anyone who wants to escape the hustle and bustle. Separated by the Batticaloa Lagoon, Kallady Beach is home to diverse marine life, making it a good spot for snorkelling and diving. However, unlike Pasikudah Bay, it’s not ideal for swimming (especially for beginners and young children) because the waters can get a little rough.

P.S.: Kallady Beach is known for breathtaking sunsets, so don’t miss out on witnessing this memorable visual treat as the sun dips beyond the horizon, casting golden hues across the sky.

Peanut Farm Beach

If you want to escape the crowds for a quieter escape, head to Peanut Farm Beach. A short drive from Arugam Bay, is this 2 kilometre stretch of golden sand, bordered by overgrown jungle which offers a deserted island feel. And don’t worry, you can still surf here and catch some amazing waves as the beach features two surf peaks and an occasional beach break, making it suitable for surfers of all levels. Unlike Arugam Bay, Peanut Farm Beach is not the best spot for a swim because of the larger shore waves and active surf scene. But you can always dip your toes for a quick cool off.

Marble Beach

About 11 kilometres from Trincomalee is Marble Beach – a pristine and picturesque beach in Sri Lanka, famous for its crystal clear waters. The beach has earned its name from the marble-like brilliance of the water, especially on sunny days, when the surface gleams as if its marble, creating a dazzling effect.
The serene atmosphere of Marble Beach makes it an ideal spot for travelers looking to relax and escape the hustle and bustle.

Uppuveli Beach

Located just 4 kilometres north of Trinco, Uppuveli Beach is an unspoiled stretch of coastline that combines natural beauty and a laid-back charm. While it’s less famous than its neighbour Nilaveli Beach, its charm lies in the simplicity and tranquility it has to offer. It’s perfect for you to bask in the sun or relax under a swaying coconut palm tree as the sound of the waves soothes your soul. You can also take a refreshing dip in the calm waters or even watch the local fishermen hauling in their catch during the early hours.

Whether you want to lounge on the sand, nap to the sound of the waves or read and relax under the shade of a coconut tree, Uppuveli Beach is the place to be.
